A RICH SCHOOL EDUCATION 
The role of school education is to provide children 
with a tastefull, comfortable environment in which 
they can develop into creative, kind-hearted individuals, 
balanced in mind, body and soul. 

Hita has 21 public elementary schools and 7 junior 
high schools, where roughly 9,000 children devote 
themselves to both their studies and sport; there. 
they have a favorable environment in which to grow 
strong and kind-hearted. 

SOCIAL EDUCATION AND PHYSICAL EXERCISE 
Social education provides a chance to stuty, at any time of life. 

This social education plays an important role in raising 
local social awareness, and allows each and every resident 
to actively seek their raison d 'etre. 

The Culture Centers and Public Assembly Halls in 13 
Iocations throughout the city act as bases for these activities, 
and a range of classes and courses are arranged to cater 
for every age group. 

In addition, work is under way to provide plentiful libraries 
and museums; and for those who enjoy sports, we are promoting 
the construction of bases for sports activities 
(such as the Ohara General Sports Park) catering for people 
of all ages, physical conditions and levels of ability. 

THE ART AND CULTURE OF THE PEOPLE 
The preservation of local culture, with its roots in historic 
customs - traditional culture, entertainment and 
festivals -together with the modern culture of Hita, 
broadens the individuality of the citizens, creating 
an attractive 'hometown'.
