THE MURAKUMO PlNE (SPECIALLY PROTECTED BY THE PREFECTURE.)

Believed to be over three hundred years old,the tree has a trunk measuring 2 meters round at its thickest part. At a height of about l meter from the ground, the tree divides and spreads out sideways. The total length measures 35 meters, and it was named the Murakumo Pine (Cloud-cluster Pine) from the way in which it spreads around the shrine building.
Approximately 450 items showing the prosperity of Hita's merchant culture from the early Edo Peroid to the early Meiji Period (deeds of wealthy Hita merchants, the writings and drawings of learned men of the time, pledges sealed with blood, etc.) The display is changed every few months to make the most of the content.
The Hirose family produced a number of outstanding members from its ranks; Gekka, Toshu, Tokiko and Kyubei, not to mention Tanso. Inside are displayed articles left by the Hirose family, and ourside is a lovely, old-fashoned courtyard.
