WIDE SPHERE ADMlNISTRATION 




In 1970 the Hita-Kusu Wide-sphere Administrative Union 
was formed with the amalgamation of I city, 4 towns and 
3 villages (Hita, Kusu. Kuju. Amagase, Oyarna, Kamitsue,
 Nakatsue, Maetsue) Iocated roughly in the center of 
northern Kyushu and making up the catchment area 
of the Chikugo River. 

Since then, the union has involved itself in the improvement 
of the living standards of local residents and in tasks 
concerning the region as a whole, and has worked to shape 
the region harmoniously. 

In particular, since 1989 when the region was designated 
a model 'Hometown district', wide sphere cooperation 
in economics and tourism has been promoted. 

The Union is also striving to promote a new wide-sphere
 exchange network making vse of the Trans-Kyushu Highway.
