 From olden times Hita has been called 'Waterside Hita'; 
clear streams, such as the Mikuma River, are symbo]ic of the town.

 However, with modernization, pollution has even reached the clear 
streams of Hita. Accordingly, the construction of waterworks 
(including simple waterworks) and drains in being undretaken 
to protect our clean rivers, deliver the delicious water of
 yesteryear to each home, and bring back the murmuring of 
the crystal streams. 

In Hita, we can watch the flitting fireflies and leaping 
silver fish reminding us of the pleasure of living in the town.
