ENTERING THE AGE OF THE EXPRESSWAY

The Hita-Asakura section of the Trans-Kyushu Highway, connecting Oita and Nagasaki (252km), was opened on March 10, 1990. It was extended to four lanes on November 11, 1995.

This was the second stretch to be opened in Oita Prefecture, after the Yufuin-Beppu section, which was opened in July, 1989.

With this, Hita has become linked by expressway to the major cities of Japan: Fukuoka, Osaka, and Tokyo; the curtain was lifted on a new age full of promise.

The highway was finally opened on March 10, 1990.
