HITA'S ARTISANS

Hita is a city where traditional industries thrive. The local potteries: Onta-yaki, Seiryu-yaki, and Hita-yaki, have a history that goes back 300 years. There is also wood craft which makes the most of local materials, and lacquerware of all sizes. Each one of these finely-polished arts not only passes on its own traditions, but also adopts to modern trends to forge a perfect match with the modern age.
